Open Source Intelligence of Flight Data

Research areaData Mining, Air Traffic Management, Open Data
DescriptionIn the case of flight delays, important flights should be prioritized in terms of arrival time, for example if many passengers on an arriving flight have to catch a connecting flight. However, the airlines' preferences are sensitive information, as they could allow conclusions to be drawn about internal cost structures. Airlines are therefore reluctant to share this information for optimization purposes. Platforms such as OpenSky publish flight data and thus make it possible to observe air traffic at an airport over a longer period of time. The aim of the bachelor thesis is to use data mining to find out how important different flights are for a particular airline.
