Abstract:

One useful way to approach the topic of “Interfaces to Advanced Data Base Systems (ADBS)” is, first, to look at the problems that such interfaces should solve, and then, to see how -- and to what extent -- the various classes of interface address them. Details concerning these solutions will be provided onlyfor Direct Manipulation (DM) based graphical interfaces. This paper presents a position referring to the latter.
